Who has a greater right to work; illegal aliens or lawful immigrants and American citizens?
Most people would answer that American citizens, then lawful immigrants, have a greater right to work in this country than illegal aliens.
But not so, according to Loretta Lynch, Obama’s nominee to replace outgoing Attorney General Eric Holder.
When asked this very question by Sen. Jeff Sessions during her confirmation hearings last week, Ms. Lynch answered:
“I believe the right and obligation to work is one that is shared by everyone in this country, regardless of how they came here.”
Although she has been nominated to hold the top law enforcement office in the country, she seems to have little regard for the rule of law pertaining to immigration and border security.
Nominating a candidate who has little regard for immigration law will enable President Obama to continue his shadowy visa-issuing scheme; a huge parallel immigrant work authorization system working outside the bounds of the law and limits written by Congress.
According to a report issued by Jessica Vaughan, director of policy studies at the Center For Immigration Studies, statistics from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services indicate that approximately 5.5 million new work permits were issued to aliens from 2009-2014.
Many of these aliens, who arrived from Central America in the border surge of 2012-2014, are in deportation proceedings or have been arrested by ICE but released on an order of supervision, suspension of deportation, or even whose countries will not take them back.
This report states that approximately 1.8 million new work permits were issued to aliens with temporary visas or those who entered under the Visa Waiver Program. Of these, about 1.2 million had a visa status for which employment is not allowed by law.
Of these 1.2 million new work permits, “more than 470,000 were issued to aliens on tourist visas and 532,000 were issued to foreign students.
“More than 156,000 were issued to dependents of students and guest workers,” none of whom qualify to work legally in the United States.
Even more shocking: 957,000 new work permits were issued to aliens who crossed the border illegally, and 1,200 were “issued to aliens who were either denied asylum, suspected of using fraudulent documents, were stowaways, or were refused at port of entry.”
Of the millions of illegal aliens from Central America, many are MS-13 gang members and drug dealers. Do they have a right to obtain a work permit?
Chances are most of them already have one. According to the CIS report, 1.7 million work permits were issued to aliens whose status was unknown.
“This should be a concern; work permits are gateway documents to driver’s licenses and other benefits,” writes Vaughan.
“And if the government agency issuing them does not know or will not disclose how the bearer arrived in the country, how can others rely on the authenticity of an individual’s identity?”
These illegal actions by the Obama administration coincide directly with its steady dismantling of our nation’s immigration enforcement.
Jessica Vaughan testified to the U.S. House Judiciary Committee regarding not only the 5.5 million issued work permits, but also that more than 1,000 crimes had been committed by criminal aliens released by the Obama administration in 2013.
In her opening statement she said, “The Obama administration’s deliberate dismantling of enforcement has imposed enormous costs on American communities in the form of lost job opportunities and stagnant wages for native workers, higher tax bills to cover increasing outlays or social services and benefits, compromised national security, and needless public safety threats.”
She reported to the committee that “Statistics published by the Department of Homeland Security show clearly that over the last several years … the number of deportations has plummeted and the number of illegal aliens allowed to stay and work in the United States has increased.
“The drop in enforcement activity has become particularly acute since the president’s executive action went into effect in late November 2014.”
In fact, ICE released 36,000 convicted criminals in 2013. Of those released, 193 had homicide convictions, 426 had sexual assault convictions, and 303 had kidnapping convictions.
In 2014, ICE released another 30,000 convicted criminals, according to Vaughan’s report.
In addition, ICE deportations have declined by 58 percent since 2009, and overall criminal deportations have declined by 43 percent since 2012.
If Loretta Lynch is confirmed as attorney general, we can expect the lawlessness to continue to go unchallenged. It’s just par for the course.
