During a press conference discussing the midterm elections on Wednesday, Democrat President Joe Biden claimed that “everybody” wants him to run for president again in 2024 – despite multiple polls showing that most Democrats want someone else as the Democratic nominee in 2024.
“How do you interpret last night’s results in terms of deciding whether you want to seek another term? Is it now more likely that you will run? And what’s going to be your timeline for consideration?” a reporter asked Biden.
“My intention is that I run again,” Biden responded. “But I’m a great respecter of fate. And this is, ultimately, a family decision.”
“I think everybody wants me to run, but they’re go- — we’re going to have discussions about it,” he added. “And I don’t feel any — any hurry one way or another what — to — to make that judgment today, tomorrow, whenever, no matter what the — my predecessor does.”
However, the vast majority of Democrats do not want Biden to run again in 2024. According to a CNN poll, 75 percent of Democrats want someone else as the Democratic nominee in 2024, while only 25 percent support Biden.
In fact, Biden has struggled to answer if his own wife even supports him running in 2024. During an interview with MSNBC’s Jonathan Capehart, Biden was asked if he plans on running again for president in 2024.
Biden responded, “I have not made that formal decision, but it is my intention. My intention to run again, and we have time to make that decision.”
“And Dr. [Jill] Biden is for it?” Capehart asked.
Biden paused and looked down without answering the question.
