A school district in South Dakota voted down a proposal requiring the Pledge of Allegiance to be recited daily in their local high schools. I wish I were kidding… but this is no joke.
What message do you think this sends to local teenagers? These school board members are being paid in American tax dollars. Yet, they can’t allocate 15 seconds a day to teach patriotism to our children by requiring the Pledge of Allegiance. Ok, ok, you may need to allocate 2 minutes with the stand up, sit down, regroup, before they move on to the next thing. But seriously? You can’t squeeze in 2 minutes a day?
Do these people realize what our military men and women have gone through just so that we have the FREEDOM to free public education, free elections, and to speak freely for or against our government?
Our children should know how privileged we are as a nation. The Pledge is just a simple way of instilling that value.
BTW… why don’t you tell these guys you don’t have time to say the Pledge of Allegiance…
And if you’d like to let the Sioux Falls School Board know what you think about their vote, you can reach them here (be respectful!).
