If you want to be able to defend yourself, don’t plan on living in Washington DC. They have some of the nation’s strictest gun laws.
For that fact, if you want to collect some antique artifacts that have anything to do with firearms, you probably don’t want to live in Washington DC either! Just ask Mark Witaschek. He had few “empty, inert metal shell casings”, “one inert and unusable shotgun cartridge, and a handful of cast metal sabots used with antique-style muzzle loaders.”
Hellooo… they were EMPTY and INERT. That means they couldn’t be USED! And a tool to be used to load a muzzle? That’s useless without a gun. He didn’t have a gun!
How do you get “weapons charges” without owning a “weapon”? You’ll have to ask the judge who threw the book at him. He’s now a convicted criminal.
Don’t assume you have 2nd Amendment rights. Check your state’s laws and make sure you know the rules, or you may just end up in hot water like Mark Witaschek!
