Flying the American flag upside-down is a sign of distress indicating the person’s life is in danger.
Looking at the video report, it’s clear the protesters’ lives were not in danger (although with those military men chasing them down for the flag, they probably thought their lives were in danger!) It’s also clear that either they hate America or hate what America stands for.
The protest was in response to police fatally shooting a homeless man. But does that warrant flying the American flag upside down? And regardless of whether it is warranted or not, do the protesters have the right to do it as part of their 1st Amendment right to free speech?
