The Harvard Extension Cultural Studies Club is hosting a Satanic Black Mass as an educational and historical learning event.
A local Satanic temple will be reenacting the Black Mass for attendees to witness along with commentary to explain the history and context. The club is calling the event a “performance” that is “part of a larger effort to explore religious facets that continue to influence contemporary culture.”
Local Catholic churches are protesting the event and holding prayer vigils to counter it’s influence.
This is just another facet of the free exercise of religion granted by our Constitution.
On the Harvard seal is their motto, “Veritas: Christo et Ecclesiae” which translates to “Truth for Christ and the Church.” One has to wonder, would the original founders of Harvard University have been so tolerant as to allow a Satanic Black Mass as a campus event, even if staged in the campus pub? I doubt we’ll ever know the answer to that one.
In the meantime, let’s just pray that their motto holds and the truth for Christ is evident for those in attendance at the event.
