Next time you hear someone say we need more money in classrooms, refer them to this little statistic…
- $29,349 spent per pupil in Washington, DC as of the 2010-2011 school year
Looking at 8th graders in that district in 2013:
- 83% were not “proficient” in reading
- 81% were not “proficient” in math
That’s the highest amount of spending per student nationwide. And the worst scoring in those two subjects. Other districts are doing A LOT better with A LOT less!
And there you have it. It’s not about the money. It’s about what you do with the money.
