Congratulations Hillary Clinton! She’s slated to receive Illinois’ highest honor, “The Order of Lincoln” award.
According to the award’s website, a recipient must meet one of 3 criteria. Best I can tell, Clinton does not meet the first two because she has no specific connection to Illinois through either residence or birth. So it must be the third criteria which states the award is:
…to honor individuals whose dedication to the principles of public service inspire all Illinoisans to respond to what Lincoln called ‘the better angels of our nature’.
Ah yes. I’m sure you see those qualities in Hillary too. Illinois Governor Pat Quinn said in a statement:
“Through her decades of service, Hillary Clinton has helped shape and improve the world more than almost any person in our nation’s history, from working on women’s and children’s issues, to her time as First Lady, U.S. Senator, and Secretary of State, she personifies the best that Illinois and the United States of America can offer.”
The underlined section is my emphasis. Each time I read it I continue to be STUNNED! I’m not trying to take any credit away from Clinton, but “more than almost any person in our nation’s history”??? Who is he trying to kid? Or does he just not know history? You’d think coming from the “Land of Lincoln” he’d realize what President Lincoln did to abolish slavery. And what about those who fought tirelessly in the women’s right to vote? Did Hillary really do more for our nation’s history than Martin Luther King, Jr. or Kennedy or Roosevelt or Reagan? I don’t see it.
Maybe he’s just planning ahead. After all, he is under investigation for corruption and you never know when you may need a Presidential pardon.
