What ever would we do without the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) labeling every part of the human condition as a “disease”?
We all know that living in the inner city can take a toll on your life. Those who live in the city typically have higher levels of stress. And now, there is evidence that it makes it harder for young people to learn. Why, you ask?
The CDC says it’s the same condition that soldiers returning from war-zones experience… “post-traumatic stress disorder” (PTSD). Doctors say it’s even MORE complex than PTSD and are calling it “Hood Disease”.
I’m sorry. I know living in the inner city can be rough. But equating it to what combat soldiers have dealt with in war? There’s no comparison.
And, seriously, if our children ARE being faced with a war-zone-like neighborhood and school, then maybe we need to send our military in to take over until order is restored. Isn’t that what they’re doing overseas? We have the means to make cities safe. Why aren’t we doing something about it? Probably because it isn’t really a “war-zone” but an over exaggeration to somehow excuse young people and their families for their poor performance in school.
Instead of labeling another “disease” for our kids (which effectively does nothing), how about we send in some help get things under control. If it’s really that bad, there’s something that we, as a nation, can do if leaders in that area really care about the kids.
