Politicians, why is it so hard to openly make course corrections, admit you made a mistake, and/or apologize? You are, after all, human (right?) Nobody’s perfect.
Yet, the political landscape and campaign strategies being what they are, make it both distasteful and unwise to openly admit to mistakes. Or does it?
Sure, admitting mistakes gives any potential opponent fodder for the next campaign. But don’t you think the American people are astute enough to see the truth and logical enough to make an accurate assessment? I for one would rather have a truthful representative willing to admit to missteps than a slick politician who attempts to cover up and blunders.
