Clinton Tucker is suing Benjamin Moore for the discriminating names of paint. In fact, they are a very personal, racial attack on Clinton Tucker. The ridiculousness of this story knows no bounds.
Clinton Tucker identifies himself as an “African American” man who worked for Benjamin Moore in their digital marketing department.
When Benjamin Moore announced a new color in their Williamsburg Collection called “tucker chocolate,” he was offended enough to approach management about it, repeatedly. Forget the fact that there is also a “tucker orange” and “tucker gray” or the fact that “Tucker” is the name of one of the Historic Colonial Williamsburg homes and this IS the Williamsburg paint collection! Of course it has to be about Clinton Tucker and his skin color. [sarcasm] OF COURSE he was being singled out and discriminated against! [more sarcasm] Take a look at how the company describes “tucker chocolate” and see how much it has to do with Clinton Tucker:
Capturing the 1798 color requested by St. George Tucker for his home facing Courthouse Green, this deep brown is classic and understated.
It has NOTHING to do with Clinton Tucker. And then, as you can imagine, when someone tries to make light of the situation and shows him the “clinton brown” color (which already existed), Clinton Tucker loses all sensibilities and files a lawsuit for a hostile work environment and retaliation (it couldn’t have been because he wasn’t great at his job or was a pain to work with,) it had to be because of his skin color. And apparently now both “chocolate” and “brown” are racially charged words.
But wait… if the management was hostile toward people of color and discriminatory, why did they hire him in the first place? Hmmmm… sour grapes anyone?
