Forget the fact that the Supreme Court has already ruled that the phrase “under God” in our Pledge of Allegiance is, in fact, Constitutional (more than once). Atheists are going to protest it one more time! Why, you ask? Because they claim that 34% of Americans don’t want it there.
I’m not sure when 34% became a majority. But if those 34% want to sit out of saying the Pledge, I’m fine with that. Our Constitution gives them that right. Yes, that’s right. That Constitution, birthed out of the Declaration of Independence, which guarantees “certain unalienable Rights” “endowed by their Creator.” The same Creator that they want removed from the Pledge, gives them the right to sit out from the Pledge of Allegiance if that’s what they want to do in “pursuit of happiness.”
So if you want to join with the American Humanist Association in their national “Don’t Say the Pledge” campaign, feel free to sit out.
Me… I’ll gladly acknowledge the providence of God in the creation of this country and ask His blessing over this nation, our leaders, and it’s people right now. The other 67% of Americans are welcome to join me.
