Tampon Run breaking the menstruation taboo

Don’t be surprised if you hear your teenage daughter inviting friends over to play the new Tampon Run video game. What? You don’t think it could happen? I’m sure it’ll be all the rage among teenagers.

I do give props to the gals who created this game. It’s nice to see creativity and ingenuity in action. But I don’t agree with their premise. Co-creator, Sophie Houser said:

“When girls are out of the house and need to change their tampon, they slip it into a sleeve or a back pocket, they hide it on the way to the bathroom. This is the menstrual taboo.”

Well, Sophie, that isn’t “taboo,” it’s just “private.” There’s a big difference. I know the concept is probably difficult for this share-everything-on-social-media generation to understand. It’s not that menstruating is an embarrassing thing, it’s that I don’t want everyone knowing every little thing about me. If you do, well then, “open carry” your tampon.

You can read more about the Tampon Run game here and you can actually play it here.
