CNN pundits were asked the question, should voting be mandatory? I’d never even considered making voting mandatory. But apparently, 38 other democratic countries do just that. I’ve always considered it my privilege to vote. I don’t understand those who don’t go to the polls or cast a ballot. But I, for one, do not want to see mandatory voting in the U.S. People don’t vote for many reasons, but mostly, because they aren’t interested, which means it’s doubtful that they are informed about the candidates or the issues. Are those REALLY the types of votes we need to increase? No thanks!
You can read the CNN pundits’ opinions here. It’s an interesting read and worth the time. This debate may arise in the not too distant future, so you need to be informed and prepared with your response.
