A Connecticut Supreme Court is forcing a teenager to undergo chemotherapy for cancer treatment. Yes, it’s against her will. She’ll be 18 years old in 9 months. She’d be able to make her own choices then. Why do they think some magic switch is going to flip in the next 9 months that will make her more capable of making an educated decision about her own health any better than she can right now?
What’s next? Will we be forcing abortions on women who’ve been told that their babies will be born with little to no chance of survival? Or deformaties? Or illness? How far are the courts going to go to control our medical choices? Shouldn’t we have the right to choose the treatment of our choice?
