The Appignani Humanist Legal Center sent a letter to Yulee High School in Florida after a student closed the morning announcements with “God Bless America”:
“It is inappropriate and unlawful for a public school to start the school day with an official statement over the intercom stating, ‘God Bless America,’ for such a statement affirms God-belief, validates a theistic worldview and is invidious toward atheists and other nonbelievers,” the American Humanist Association wrote in a letter to the principal of Yulee High School.
If “such a statement affirms God-belief” and “validates a theistic worldview,” then wouldn’t the converse also apply and a “lack of statement affirms a non-belief in God” and “validates an atheistic worldview”?
So whether we mention God or not, we’re taking a worldview, someone’s worldview. The atheists just prefer it be theirs.
Free speech is free speech people. If we allow atheists to silence us, we’ve given it away willingly. They have no more right to silence us than we have to force them to believe in God. This is a 2-way street. Stop letting them hog the road!
