Schools collecting your child’s biometrics in exchange for a free lunch, are you willing?

This just in from Pennsylvania… now they want to provide school lunches for ALL students, not just those in need. AND… to make those lunch lines move more efficiently, they’ll be scanning your child’s thumbprint. That’s right folks, biometric scanners collecting and storing information about your children. Step one in tracking the citizenry. This sounds a little too invasive for me. Is there an “opt out” provision? The article doesn’t say.

EAGNews reports:

A Pennsylvania school district is scanning students’ thumbprints, tracking all of their lunch purchases, and turning the data over to the federal government.

The Hazleton Area School District recently announced it would be providing free meals to all students, regardless of need.

The move comes after the federal government began incentivizing school districts to provide more meals to more students.

You can read the full article here. Then let me know what you think. Are you comfortable with your local school district collecting biometric data on your child and sharing it with the federal government? If not, what will you do to stop it?
