The last time there was a mass book banning and burning was in 1933, By Hitler himself!
Hitler and the Nazis thought were for banning and burning books that were thought to be ‘un-German’. The book-burning in May 1933 was organized by Goebbels.
The Book Burning rallies were also used to control the intellect of the Nazi followers so that they didn’t know any other knowledge except what they deemed necessary. This led them to be able to control what their followers thought about the world, and more importantly, how Hitler wanted them to think during World War 2 – Those burnt included books written by Jewish pacifist, classical liberal, anarchist, socialist, and communist authors, all books degrading German purity, books about sexuality or homosexuality, among others.
So NAZIs banned and burned books to keep people from getting knowledge.
The second-in-command at the Democratic National Committee has implored Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos to stop the retail giant’s “sale of literature and music published by entities identified as ‘hate groups’ by the Southern Poverty Law Center.” (WorldNetDaily)
While the letter from U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., later specifies concern about “neo-nazis and white nationalist writers,” his opening, sweeping statement about SPLC-designated “hate groups” should be cause for alarm, writes Jihad Watch Director Robert Spencer.
“Clearly Ellison wants Amazon, which has (with Barnes & Noble) a virtual monopoly on book sales in the U.S., to stop selling books by people designated as ‘hate groups’ by the Southern Poverty Law Center,” Spencer writes.
He points out that, like the establishment media, Ellison assumes SPLC is a “reliable, unbiased arbiter of what is and isn’t a hate group.”
But SPLC has been challenged for applying the “hate group” label to groups with broad support such as the Family Research Council and the Alliance Defending Freedom, which have ended up on SPLC’s list because of their advocacy for traditional marriage, opposition to abortion and other conservative causes.
Despite the SPLC’s bias being well-known, the notoriously liberal organization enjoys widespread support from the mainstream media.
