I know this sounds unreal. Believe me, I was shocked when I watched this but CNN’s Wolf Blitzer did his job for once and called a Democrat out for making outrageous and untrue claims against President Trump.
Here is the back story; Shortly after Trump announced his nominee for Supreme Court Justice would Be Judge Amy Coney Barrett liberals started losing their minds. Barrett is a known conservative advocate and Dems fear she will support the dismemberment of their policies and social programs. One Democrat stood out far beyond the rest by saying that the President picking a SCOTUS before an election is ‘illegitimate’ and ‘illegal’. Both are claims are deranged and couldn’t be farther from the truth.
Connecticut Democrat, Sen. Richard Blumenthal immediately hit Twitter declaring Trump’s pick was an “illegitimate sham”. He went on to challenge Judge Barrett’s qualifications:
When Blumenthal appeared on CNN Saturday he likely thought his interview with Blitzer was going to be a Binden-glorifying cakewalk. He certainly didn’t expect the CNN host to call him out on his belligerently false accusation. Blitzer repeatedly asked the Dem to explain himself and in short, he couldn’t.
“What are the Republicans doing that is illegal or illegitimate?” Blitzer asked, adding a note that the Constitution delineates exactly how nominations to the court are supposed to go down.
“The Constitution says the president has to nominate Supreme Court justices; the Senate has to advise and consent and confirm,” Blitzer continued. “So what is illegal about what the president and the Republicans are doing? You say it’s illegitimate.”
Blumenthal stumbled all over himself unable to give Blitzer and answer. He muttered on about timing, “the vote on this nominee will occur literally at the end of October, a handful of days before an election.”
The Dem hoped that Blitzer would end his questioning there but the CNN host didn’t let Blumenthal slide:
