House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D) is being accused of racism after her remark Thursday about Clarence Thomas, the Supreme Court’s only black member.
When a reporter asked Pelosi if Thomas should’ve recused himself in 2020 from election cases, the speaker said he never should’ve gotten the job.
“I don’t think he should have ever been appointed,” Pelosi said.
Abigail Marone, press secretary for Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) tweeted, “But I was reliably informed that it was racist to oppose a Black SCOTUS nominee…”
Kellyanne Conway, former senior counselor to the president under Trump, said, “She’s a racist!”
Another user tweeted, “Nancy Pelosi is racist and hates black people. Finally says it out loud.”
