The family of Theodore Deschler, a 100% disabled veteran, are in search of answers after the pre-dawn FBI raid that took place on August 16th in Henderson, Tennessee.
Bonnie Deschler, his mother, was pulled out of her home and put into a police vehicle as agents fatally shot her son in front of her.
Despite Fox News’ reportage on the issue, the FBI has yet to provide an explanation for their actions.
“It’s none of your business!” FBI agents told her after they blew up her house and killed her son.
At 6am, a loud bang was heard by a neighbor who subsequently informed WBBJ. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that FBI agents had arrived at Bonnie Deschler’s home in Henderson, Tennessee to serve her son Theodore an arrest warrant; however, the situation ultimately resulted in death.
I was woken up at about six o’clock this morning. I heard a loud bang. Then I heard a couple more. I heard the loudspeakers, ‘Come out with your hands up. We’re the FBI. We’re not going anywhere.’ Before I knew it, I was coming out to see what was going on and watched them bust out their windows,” a neighbor told WBBJ.
Theodore’s family believes he was unarmed when the agents busted down the door and threw flashbangs into the home.
“It was a senseless act. You know Teddy was a 100% disabled veteran. He had problems. He had severe PTSD. He had depression but he was getting help for it but this was senseless. He didn’t have a weapon on him. He was just trying to get out of the house because it was filled with tear gas,” Theodore’s mother Bonnie told WBBJ.
Bonnie Deschler reported that the house was destroyed by tear gas, flashbangs and bullets. Most of the windows were busted out. She further stated that her son, who was unarmed and standing in the doorway at the time, was killed by FBI agents.
“You couldn’t see. The height of the door and where Teddy was standing when they shot him and killed him, you couldn’t see if he was armed or not and you know he wasn’t. Because if you look at the door you could see where his hands were full of blood and went down the door. Well if he had a weapon in his hand…,” Bonnie Deschler told WBBJ.
The Deschler family is currently taking legal action against the FBI after the fatal shooting of Theodore Deschler. The incident is under investigation, thus leaving the family in the dark about details of the raid. According to Fox News, it has recently been reported that Theodore Deschler was arrested as a suspect following a gas station stabbing in a nearby town, according to Selmer Police Department.
While details regarding the stabbing are unclear, it is unknown whether there are any charges stemming from this incident or if it is associated with the FBI raid. The family plans on pursuing legal action claiming their due rights through civil litigation against the FBI.
“The FBI is reviewing an agent-involved shooting which occurred today at approximately 6:40 a.m. while FBI SWAT was conducting an arrest operation in Henderson, TN,” said the FBI. “The subject is deceased. The FBI takes all shooting incidents involving our agents or task force members seriously. In accordance with FBI policy, the shooting incident is under review by the FBI’s Inspection Division. As this is an ongoing matter, we have no further details to provide.”
