In a recent episode of his show, Tucker Carlson discussed the contentious issue that has been under scrutiny for more than three years: the circumstances surrounding George Floyd’s death.
Carlson sought to break through the pervasive narratives perpetuated by mainstream media, which claim Floyd was murdered by a ‘racist’ white cop, Derek Chauvin.
He raised questions about the slogans and beliefs disseminated to the public by a sensationalistic media instead of being rooted in fact.

On May 25, 2020, George Floyd, a Black man, tragically died while in police custody. Video footage showed Officer Derek Chauvin kneeling on Floyd’s neck for over nine minutes.
This sparked widespread protests across the United States under the “Black Lives Matter” banner advocating for an end to police brutality. As a result of this incident, Chauvin was convicted of second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter and sentenced to 21 years in prison.
In his show, Tucker Carlson revealed new court case information coming from Hennepin County, Minnesota relating to Amy Sweasy – a top prosecutor in the area – who filed a lawsuit against her former boss Mike Freeman claiming sex discrimination as well as retaliation.
Through this legal process various documents and testimonies were brought to light that provided insight into the internal workings and pressures that shaped the high profile case against Chauvin and his fellow officers.
The state ultimately settled the sex discrimination claim with Sweasy receiving $190 000 before resigning in April 2021. Patrick Lofton who worked closely with Sweasy on police use-of-force cases described the pressure prosecutors were under to file charges as “insane” saying “the city was burning down”.
He went on to explain that although he believed there was “probable cause” he wanted it documented that he would not let external circumstances affect his judgement because he had to sleep at night no matter what; leading him to withdraw from the officers’ cases in June 2020. Sweasy also discussed a conversation she had with Hennepin County Medical Examiner Dr Andrew Baker where they discussed Floyd’s medical findings which reportedly indicated there were “no medical indications of asphyxia or strangulation”.

This argument is of utmost importance, as it directly contradicts the popular opinion that George Floyd was “murdered” due to being held in a knee-to-neck restraint. Carlson argues that the evidence suggests that his death was actually caused by “natural causes,” which were worsened by his drug use and an excessive amount of fentanyl in his system.
“In other words, George Floyd, according to the official autopsy, was not murdered. He died instead of what we used to call natural causes, which in his case would include decades of drug use, as well as the fatal concentration of fentany that was in his system on his final day. So this was not a killing, it was yet another narcotics OD in a country that records more than 100,000 of them every year. The medical examiner clearly understood that and, in fact, articulated it,” Tucker Carlson said.
