Jaye Dee Watts, a 44-year-old woman from Oklahoma, has been charged with felony murder by a caretaker and kidnapping after providing her 72-year-old mother – who was suffering from dementia – with a gun that was used to commit suicide.
The incident occurred on September 10th in Oklahoma City.
According to police documents, Jaye was the primary caregiver for her mother and had reportedly subjected Lynda to verbal abuse before her death.
Video recorded by a Ring camera inside the home captured Jaye calling her incapacitated mother a toddler and telling her to “take your pill or choke on it and die.”
Footage also allegedly shows Jaye leaving the room and returning with a handgun, instructing Lynda on how to remove it from its holster.
Moments later, Lynda fired two shots in succession that resulted in her own death.
The Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office issued an arrest warrant for Watts who then turned herself in to authorities.
She posted $1 million bond after admitting that being the 24/7 caregiver “sucks”.
