Ashleigh Merchant, the defense attorney representing Michael Roman, a co-defendant of Trump, has been subpoenaed to testify before a Georgia State Senate Committee investigating allegations against Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.
The subpoena is likely related to text messages received by Merchant from Terrence Bradley, the former divorce attorney and law partner of Michel Wade.
The hearing at the Georgia Senate is scheduled to be livestreamed this Wednesday.
Judge Scott Mcafee is expected to decide on the disqualification of Fani Willis and her office from prosecuting Trump and 18 other co-defendants in the Georgia election interference case within the next two weeks.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis allegedly received financial benefits from a romantic involvement with top Trump prosecutor Nathan Wade.
It is claimed that Willis hired Wade to prosecute Trump while they were in a relationship, paying him over $700,000 since.
Judge Scott McAfee has suggested that Willis could be disqualified from Trump’s RICO case due to the inappropriate nature of her connection with Wade.
Fani Willis and Nathan Wade both testified last month that they began their relationship after Wade was appointed to lead the Trump election interference case. Nathan Wade’s divorce attorney and former law partner, Terrence Bradley, was compelled to testify last week after initially invoking attorney-client privilege.
Text messages revealed by Robin Yearti from Fani Willis’s office indicate that the relationship between Willis and Wade began in 2019, prior to Wade being assigned as lead prosecutor in the RICO case against President Trump.
Despite evidence of leaked information to a co-defendant’s attorney, Bradley avoided answering questions about text messages during his testimony, citing lack of knowledge or memory.
