Scott Jennings, a right-leaning pundit who occasionally appears on CNN, recently sparked controversy by labeling Rep. Ilhan Omar as a spokesperson for Hamas.
He also suggested that Rep. Rashida Tlaib could be described in the same way.
The Squad, a group of progressive Democrats, expressed outrage over these statements and demanded an apology from CNN.
Conservative commentators have been critical of Omar’s remarks regarding President Biden and the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
Jennings specifically criticized Omar for supporting Biden despite her previous criticisms of his policies towards Israel.

AOC came unglued:
How on earth is this kind of blatant Islamophobia so casually accepted without pushback? This is shocking. https://t.co/ENMPOMIGID

Jamaal Bowman too.
Scott Jennings' comments are disgustingly racist and Islamophobic. Comments like this, especially on national news, are extremely dangerous and fuel anti-muslim hate crimes.
CNN should never have him on again!
This hatred is unacceptable and cannot be normalized. https://t.co/6vuIObqb8l

Ayanna Pressley didn’t hold back either:
Blatant Islamophobia has no place in our society — let alone on primetime TV.
It's dangerous, unacceptable, and cannot be normalized.
Got your back, @IlhanMN. https://t.co/Q2evYTdDBD
