House Republicans passed a resolution condemning Vice President Kamala Harris, also known as the ‘Border Czar,’ for her management of the U.S. southern border.
This marks the first legislative action specifically aimed at Harris since her selection as the presumptive Democratic nominee for the 2024 election.
The resolution received bipartisan support, with six Democrats joining all Republicans in voting for it.
The final vote tally was 220-196 in favor of passing the measure.

The resolution was backed by Democratic representatives Jared Golden, Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, Mary Peltola, Henry Cuellar, Don Davis, and Yadira Caraveo.
Harris has faced ongoing criticism from Republicans for her handling of the role of “border czar” since being assigned by Joe Biden to address the underlying issues of illegal immigration in 2021.
The resolution has become a central point of criticism for the GOP as Vice President Harris gears up for a potential 2024 showdown with former President Trump.
Despite some Democratic lawmakers endorsing her, six Democratic representatives voting against Harris signal significant disapproval from within her own party.
During the House debate, GOP Conference Chair Elise Stefanik accused Harris of overseeing policies that led to what she described as the worst border crisis in American history.
Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Green also criticized Harris, suggesting that she could have resolved the crisis by looking at herself.
Democrats pushed back against the resolution, claiming it was politically motivated.
Some left-wing lawmakers argued that Harris’s focus was on addressing the root causes of migration rather than managing border security operations.
Meanwhile, Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries highlighted that the term “border czar” was a creation of Republicans.
