Victim of Trump Assassination Attempt Remains in Critical Condition

One of the attendees at the rally where former President Donald Trump was targeted in an assassination attempt is still hospitalized after being shot.

The person, identified as 74-year-old James “Jim” Copenhaver from Moon Township, Pennsylvania, is reported to be in a serious condition by doctors.

Additionally, Copenhaver and his family received an unexpected phone call from Trump earlier this week.

Fox, on Saturday, reported that “Former President Trump called the family of James Copenhaver on Thursday.”

Unfortunately, though, it does not appear that Trump could speak directly with Copenhaver.

The outlet reports:

Copenhaver, 74, of Moon Township, was asleep when the call happened, but Trump will call again at a later time to speak with Copenhaver directly, according to Joseph Feldman, a spokesperson for the Copenhaver family and attorney for the Law Offices of Max C. Feldman.

However, it seems that Trump did manage to have a conversation with members of Copenhaver’s family.

Following the call, the family expressed their surprise at Trump’s humility and described him as very pleasant and respectful.

It remains uncertain if Trump has since been able to reach Copenhaver.

The assassination attempt not only caused injury to Trump, but it also resulted in injuries to at least two others and the death of one person.

The deceased individual is 50-year-old Corey Comperatore, a volunteer firefighter from Buffalo Township. He tragically lost his life while shielding his wife and daughters from the assassin’s gunfire.

It has been reported that Trump has maintained close communication with all the victims, including the family of Comperatore.

Trump also paid tribute to Comperatore during the recently-held Republican National Convention, where Trump was named the Republican Party’s presidential nominee. There, Trump said:

Tragically, the shooter claimed the life of one of our fellow Americans, Corey Comperatore, and seriously wounded two other great warriors… David Dutch and James Copenhaver. I spoke to all three families of these tremendous people—our love and prayers are with them, and always will be. Corey, a highly respected former fire chief… was accompanied by his wife Helen… and two precious daughters. He lost his life selflessly acting as a human shield to protect them from flying bullets… what a fine man he was.

Fox News reports, “Trump then walked over to Comperatore’s firefighting jacket and helmet, which were sent to the convention by the family and were placed next to Trump on the stage, asking for a moment of silence for the Pennsylvania father.”
