The Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office recently enlisted the expertise of the Louisiana State Police Special Victim’s Unit (LSP SVU) to investigate allegations of sexual misconduct involving a former DeRidder Mayor, Misty Roberts.
This decision was made in response to serious accusations that had surfaced against Roberts, prompting her sudden resignation from office at the age of 42.
Following an extensive inquiry, the LSP SVU conducted interviews with two juveniles, one of whom identified themselves as the victim in question.
Their testimonies aligned with the allegations, substantiating claims that Roberts had engaged in sexual activity with one of the juvenile victims during her tenure as Mayor.
The compelling evidence gathered by investigators led to the issuance of an arrest warrant by the Beauregard Parish 36th Judicial District Court.
Subsequently, Roberts chose to cooperate with law enforcement and turned herself in on August 1, 2024. As a result, she was remanded into custody at the Beauregard Parish Detention Center.
The charges brought against Roberts include LRS 14:43 – Third-degree rape and LRS 14:92 – Contributing to the delinquency of juveniles.
These legal allegations underscored the gravity of the situation and solidified the severity of the accusations leveled against her.
In light of these developments, it became evident that Roberts’ actions had not only prompted a criminal investigation but also jeopardized her standing within both local government and society at large.
The ramifications of her alleged transgressions were far-reaching and carried significant implications for all parties involved.
