Trump Calls for End to ‘Gender’ Wokeness to Revitalize Biology

Promises made during the 2024 election campaign are taking shape as Donald Trump outlined a distinct contrast with Kamala Harris, focusing on her activism surrounding transgender issues. Highlighting Harris’s support for taxpayer-funded gender transition therapies for prison inmates, a campaign ad pointedly stated, “Kamala Harris is for they/them,” while asserting, “Donald Trump is for you.”

Trump pledged to end this gender ideology with immediate action. The Free Press reported that Trump is set to sign an executive order on his first day in office, titled “Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government.” This order aims to affirm the biological reality of two sexes across government operations, defining male and female in clear terms.

The executive order will remove radical gender ideology from government guidance, communications, policies, and forms. It mandates that agencies will no longer operate under the notion that men can be women and vice versa when enforcing sex discrimination laws. The term “woman” will be defined as “adult human female.”

It also dictates that government identification, such as passports and personnel records, will reflect biological sex rather than self-assessed gender identity. Additionally, the order will end the practice of housing biological males in women’s prisons and halting taxpayer-funded gender transitions for male inmates.

Further, the order protects Americans’ First Amendment rights by ending the enforcement of “preferred pronouns” and supporting recognition of the biological sex binary. This protection extends to workplaces and federally funded institutions like schools.

This initiative is a promise to restore what Trump describes as sanity within the federal government. It aims to end the compulsion to partake in what he sees as others’ delusions, particularly protecting children from irreversible decisions made for the sake of adult virtue signaling. Reporter Emily Yoffe anticipates legal challenges, which the Trump administration appears prepared to face.

In the political arena, Trump seems to be navigating with the understanding that a significant majority of Americans align with his views on these issues. While Democrats leveraged the Dobbs decision to some electoral advantage in 2022, particularly on the topic of abortion, Trump’s team perceives a lack of equivalent public support for the radical transgender agenda.

Polls, such as one conducted by the NYT and Ipsos, reveal that 79% of Americans oppose biological males competing in women’s sports. Additionally, 71% oppose pediatric gender transitions, and 90% are against such procedures for anyone under 15.

Nearly half of Americans (49%) feel that the government has gone too far in accommodating transgender people, compared to 21% who think it hasn’t gone far enough and 28% who believe a rational balance has been achieved.

Trump’s administration seems ready to engage in this cultural and political battle, believing it represents the stance of most Americans. They are prepared to confront Democrats on issues like pronoun enforcement, biological males in female spaces, and the broader implications of radical gender ideologies.

The campaign’s strategy of highlighting Harris’s radical policies appears to have resonated with the public, and Trump’s team is poised to champion a return to what they consider sanity, drawing a line against elite agendas that have, in their view, alienated many voters.

In this confrontation over gender ideology, Trump and his allies are signaling they are ready to fight for what they see as common sense and are willing to let Democrats take the political risks associated with defending their positions. The administration’s stance is clear: they believe they are on the side of the majority and are prepared to stand firm on this issue.

The executive order and its implications are set to become a significant point of discussion as Trump takes office, shaping the national conversation on gender ideology and government policy.
