ICE Arrested Illegal Alien Serving As Suburban Chicago Police Officer
Federal immigration agents arrested a Hanover Park police officer on Oct. 15 during targeted enforcement for immigration violations. The officer, Radule Bojovic, was taken into custody after agents determined he was not legally present in the United States.
Court documents show Bojovic entered on a B-2 visitor visa and was required to leave by March 31, 2015. He overstayed that visa by more than a decade but was nonetheless hired and sworn in as a suburban police officer. That mismatch between immigration status and law enforcement authority triggered the enforcement action.
Federal law bars non-citizens who are unlawfully present from owning or possessing firearms, and ICE highlighted that statute in this case. “Illegal aliens are prohibited from owning or possessing firearms — full stop,” said ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Chicago Field Office Director Sam Olson. That legal prohibition is at the center of the concerns raised by federal authorities.
The arrest happened in Rolling Meadows as part of an operation the agency calls Operation Midway Blitz. ICE says the individual arrested is an alien from Montenegro and was recently sworn in with the Hanover Park Police Department. The agency characterized the arrest as one of several enforcement actions in the Chicago area.
At the time of his arrest, Bojovic presented an employee identification card that confirmed his role with the Hanover Park Police Department. He also told agents he did not have a weapon on his person because he is only authorized to carry while on duty. Because he was determined to be an alien unlawfully present, ICE officers placed him under arrest immediately.
The officer was sworn in roughly two months before his arrest, according to a social media post. Hanover Park records show Bojovic was approved by the Pension Fund Board of Trustees in January 2025 and was eligible for a starting salary of $78,955.70. Other records cited by authorities indicate his 2025 earnings cost taxpayers $205,707, including $9,276 for FICA and Medicare taxes.
Chicago’s sanctuary policies have long drawn criticism from federal officials, and Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker has publicly opposed Operation Midway. The Department of Homeland Security issued strong statements faulting local policies that limit cooperation with federal immigration enforcement. Those disputes set the political backdrop for why ICE prioritized operations in the region.
“Governor J.B. Pritzker doesn’t just allow violent illegal aliens to terrorize Illinois’s communities, he allows illegal aliens to work as sworn police officers,” said Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “Radule Bojovic violated our nation’s laws and was living ILLEGALLY in the United States for 10 years—what kind of police department gives criminal illegal aliens badges and guns? It’s a felony for aliens to even possess a firearm. A so-called law enforcement officer who is actively breaking the law. Under President Trump and Secretary Noem ICE is restoring law and order. Criminal illegal aliens have NO PLACE in our communities, especially on our police forces.”
Operation Midway Blitz was launched by DHS on Sept. 8 and was framed as an effort to target criminal illegal aliens in the Chicago area. Officials said the operation honors Katie Abraham, who was killed in a hit-and-run by a driver identified as an illegal alien, and it focuses on individuals who sought sanctuary under local policies. ICE officials argue these enforcement actions are necessary to restore federal law and protect communities.
Editor’s Note: The Schumer Shutdown is here. Rather than put the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats forced a government shutdown for healthcare for illegals. They own this.
