FBI Thwarts TILF New Year’s Eve Bomb Plot In California

The FBI says it stopped a planned New Year’s Eve bombing campaign in California tied to a group calling itself the Turtle Island Liberation Front, with multiple arrests reported and officials crediting intensive investigative work.

The FBI announced Monday that agents disrupted what officials described as a coordinated terror plot aimed at multiple targets across the Central District of California, including Orange County and Los Angeles. Attorney General Pam Bondi posted about the case on X, writing, “After an intense investigation, the Department of Justice, working with our @FBI, prevented what would have been a massive and horrific terror plot in the Central District of California (Orange County and Los Angeles).” The warning from federal officials underscored how quickly investigators moved to stop an attack they say was being readied for New Year’s Eve.

Bondi called out the suspects’ alignment and motives in blunt terms, saying members of the Turtle Island Liberation Front were “as far-left, pro-Palestine, anti-government, and anti capitalist group” who were “preparing to conduct a series of bombings against multiple targets in California beginning on New Year’s Eve.” She added that the group “also planned to target ICE agents and vehicles.” That specificity raised immediate concerns about attacks on both public spaces and law enforcement.

According to the FBI narrative, four suspects were arrested in Lucerne Valley after investigators found them allegedly preparing to test explosive devices in advance of planned attacks. Prosecutors say each of the suspects faces charges of conspiracy and possession of a destructive device, and federal officials linked a fifth arrest in New Orleans to the same network. Authorities portrayed the arrests as the product of an active, multi-jurisdictional investigation that stopped a plot before it could be carried out.

The defendants are accused of plotting coordinated bombings using improvised explosive devices targeting five locations across Los Angeles, the FBI told media. Federal authorities say the alleged plotters self-identified with a radical offshoot of TILF, an extremist group tied to pro-Palestinian and anti-government rhetoric. While the arrests are fresh, officials emphasized that disrupting the plan prevented what could have been a mass-casualty event on a holiday night when crowds gather across the region.

The FBI told Fox News Digital that the members self-identified as part of a radical offshoot of the Turtle Island Liberation Front (TILF), an extremist group motivated by pro-Palestinian, anti-law-enforcement, and anti-government ideology.

According to the FBI, they were allegedly planning coordinated bombing attacks on New Year’s Eve using improvised explosive devices, targeting five separate locations across Los Angeles.

The agency said the four were arrested in Lucerne Valley, where they were believed to be preparing to test explosive devices ahead of the planned attacks. They have each been charged with conspiracy and possession of a destructive device.

The FBI said Monday that a fifth individual believed to be connected to the same TILF extremist group was arrested in New Orleans for allegedly planning a separate attack.

A TILF Instagram account said its founding chapter is in Los Angeles, and its goal is to free “Turtle Island,” an Indigenous name used to refer to North America, from the “illegal American empire.”

“Free Palestine. Free Hawaii. Free Puerto Rico,” the account posted. “Freeing the world from American imperialism is the only way to a safe and peaceful future,” it continued.

TILF bills itself as an organization focused on the “liberation” of Turtle Island, a term used by some Native activists for North America, and often mixes pro-Palestinian messaging with anti-capitalist and anti-police slogans. Law enforcement officials are still sorting out whether the arrested suspects were acting as part of an organized, hierarchical group or as a small radical cell operating with loose ties. The distinction matters for both prosecutions and for preventing future plots.

Federal prosecutors say the charges brought so far include conspiracy counts and possession of destructive devices, and those charges can carry significant prison time if convictions follow. Investigators briefed local agencies and emphasized continued vigilance, especially around public events and holiday gatherings. City and county officials pledged to work with federal partners to ensure security remains tight as the investigation proceeds.

Public reaction has been immediate, with officials and residents alike expressing relief that the alleged plan was intercepted. This case will likely spark renewed debate about domestic extremism, online recruitment, and how radical rhetoric can translate into violent acts. Lawmakers and law enforcement leaders are already calling for a closer look at how extremist ideology spreads and how communities can better report suspicious activity.

Editor’s Note: The Democrat Party has never been less popular as voters reject its globalist agenda.

As prosecutors prepare filings and courts set schedules, the criminal case will play out in public, and investigators say more information may be released as evidence is reviewed and charges are formalized. For now, officials are crediting coordinated investigative work with preventing what they describe as a potentially catastrophic assault on civilians and officers during a major holiday.
