A new poll from Seniors Matter For America finds broad voter backing for the pro-senior pieces of the so-called Big Beautiful Bill, showing strong support for tax relief, lower drug prices, and protection of Medicare programs across the electorate.
The polling, produced by a conservative coalition that advances President Trump’s Seniors First Agenda, shows these measures land with voters in battleground states as well as in safe areas. The results make clear that older Americans are focused on concrete benefits that reduce costs and safeguard coverage, and that message resonates beyond just the senior cohort. For Republicans, that creates a straightforward political opportunity heading into 2026.
The survey shows that Trump holds a positive approval rating with senior voters (+4) and that key seniors-first policies, from Social Security tax cuts to lower prescription drug costs, enjoy overwhelming support. Those numbers suggest the Big Beautiful Bill’s pro-senior provisions connect with voters who decide close elections. Campaigns that speak plainly about protecting earned benefits and cutting costs are likely to get attention.
According to the poll, 67 percent of voters support eliminating taxes on Social Security, a figure that rises to 71 percent among seniors, while 76 percent back a $6,000 tax exemption for older Americans. Those are large majorities that cross party lines and signal easy political terrain for Republicans who prioritize seniors’ economic security. Voters of all ages showed strong interest in tax relief targeted at people on fixed incomes.
Support is even higher for efforts to lower prescription drug costs, with 81 percent of voters favoring policies that give seniors direct access to the best available prices, the poll found. That level of agreement on drug pricing is rare, and it gives Republican leaders a chance to press the contrast with policies that leave seniors paying more. Emphasizing tangible savings at the pharmacy counter lands with people who feel squeezed by medical bills.
President Trump delivered a huge win to seniors with no tax on Social Security. Thank you, @POTUS! https://t.co/tjOydlt3jm

The data also shows a clear consensus around protecting Medicare and Medicare Advantage, programs supported by 62 percent of voters overall. A majority of battleground voters, 53 percent, including nearly two-thirds of seniors, 64 percent, oppose a government-run single-payer system that would eliminate private insurance options. Those numbers underline how defense of choice in coverage remains a winning message.
Voters expressed strong aversions to changes that could affect seniors’ health care, with 84 percent saying they are concerned about efforts to take away Medicare Advantage. The poll also found that 64 percent of voters would be less likely to support a candidate who voted to harm Medicare or Medicare Advantage, a political liability for anyone proposing sweeping changes. That kind of resistance shows why protecting established programs should be a nonstarter for most office seekers.
Seniors remain a decisive voting bloc in national and state contests, and the poll suggests they are not drifting from the practical priorities that secure their support: lower costs, stronger protections, and preserved choice. Even as younger voters get attention for turning out, older Americans still respond to policies that protect benefits they rely on every day. Republicans who keep seniors’ concerns front and center will be better positioned in the states that matter most next cycle.
