Texas Adviser Admits $25M Ponzi, Betrayed Clients With Single Stock

A Texas investment adviser admitted to running a scheme that collapsed after he concentrated client money in a single foreign stock, deceived investors about account values, and used new funds to cover losses and finance a lavish lifestyle.

Siddharth Jawahar, 38, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in St. Louis to three counts of wire fraud after investigators say his Texas-based firm, Swiftarc Capital LLC, misled clients and mismanaged more than $25 million. Authorities say what began as diversified investing shifted in 2015 into essentially one bet: Philip Morris Pakistan (PMP). The move concentrated nearly all client assets into a single, risky holding and set the stage for the collapse.

According to prosecutors, Jawahar concealed PMP’s true performance from investors, falsely reporting higher share prices and fabricated profits while the actual value fell. Instead of disclosing losses, he diverted funds from new clients to pay earlier investors, a classic Ponzi pattern. The scheme also funded an extravagant personal lifestyle, with private plane travel, luxury hotel stays and pricey restaurant outings listed among his expenses.

Jawahar also admitted to falsely entering agreements promising to invest specific clients’ money in particular companies, yet never following through. Prosecutors pointed to several investors by state and amount: one Missouri investor gave him $175,000, another Missouri investor gave him $75,000, a New York investor handed over $350,000 and an Ohio investor provided $250,000. Those commitments were never honored, and the promised investments were not made.

From about July 2016 through December 2023, Swiftarc took in more than $35 million from investors but put only about $10 million to work in legitimate investments, the government says. When PMP’s value dropped, the gap between reported account balances and reality widened, and Jawahar allegedly covered that gap by recycling incoming investor money. That pattern depleted client capital while creating an appearance of stability for those already invested.

Beyond Swiftarc Capital LLC, Jawahar managed a tangle of related entities prosecutors say were used during the fraud, including Swiftarc Fund LP, Swiftarc LLC, Swiftarc Holdings, SJ Investment Holdings LLC, Order of Magnitude Ventures LLC, Extra Sensory Perception Inc., Swiftarc Growth Fund LP, Swiftarc Opportunities Fund LP, SJ Investment Holdings LLC, SV Labs SPV 1 LP, Swiftarc Venture Labs Fund GP LLC, SJDB Ventures LLC, Swiftarc Ventures LLC, Swiftarc Venture Labs Fund LP, Swiftarc Telehealth Labs Fund LP, NI Stubbs LLC and Swiftarc Beauty Fund LP. The list highlights how layered structures can hide activity and confuse investors tracking where their money actually sits.

Jawahar faces sentencing on April 21 and the wire fraud counts each carry up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, or both, in addition to court-ordered restitution to the victims. The FBI and the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office investigated the matter, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Derek Wiseman is prosecuting the case. The guilty plea resolves the criminal counts but leaves many investors facing losses and uncertainty about recovery.
