Kansas City Police Hunt Woman Who Burned Rumored ICE Site

Kansas City police are hunting a woman who set fire to a warehouse she believed was being sold to ICE, following months of anti-ICE agitation and a violent attack in Dallas last fall that left two migrants dead.

Back in September, Leftist anti-ICE Joshua Jahn opened fire on a Dallas ICE facility, aiming at agents but tragically killing two migrants and wounding another before taking his own life. That episode showed how extreme rhetoric can bleed into lethal acts, and criticism from the left was muted at best even as the violence unfolded. The memory of that attack hangs over this new incident in Kansas City and raises tough questions about accountability for political violence. Republicans will point out that rhetoric has consequences and public safety should come first.

In Kansas City, video shows a woman pouring an accelerant and setting flames against the windows of a warehouse she believed was an ICE detention site, with little concern for anyone who might have been inside. The blaze was contained by firefighters and, miraculously, no one was hurt, but the act could easily have turned deadly. People who run to political theater without thinking about lives at risk have to answer for the chaos they create. Law enforcement has treated this as an attempted arson investigation and is pursuing leads.

The warehouse had been the subject of local conversation because Platform Ventures, an investment firm based in Kansas City, owns the property known as 49 Crossing. Reports circulated that the site might be sold to the federal government for an immigration detention purpose, but the owner later said negotiations were not moving forward. Company statements pushed back against heated speculation, and local officials reacted as the rumors grew louder. The situation shows how a whisper of a sale can become a political spark in a charged environment.

Here’s more from KMBC:

Platform Ventures, an investment firm based in Kansas City, owns the property known as 49 Crossing. Rumors began to swirl in January about the site’s potential future as an immigration detention center. At the time, Platform Ventures said in a statement that it didn’t discuss sales or question prospective buyers, but that negotiations had been complete.

Port KC meeting documents at the end of January seemed to verify the reports, noting it had learned Platform Ventures planned to sell the property to the federal government. Port KC later voted to cut ties with the company, though Port KC made it clear it was not involved in the sale and could not stop it.

But Platform Ventures set the record straight, issuing a statement Feb. 12 after “baseless speculation, inaccurate narratives and serious threats toward leadership” led the company to address the property and sale.

Local reporting also notes that a KMBC journalist, Andy Alcock, saw the woman throw a liquid onto the building’s windows before the fire began, which helped firefighters understand how the blaze started. Grandview Fire Department crews responded quickly and extinguished the flames, preventing any injuries or further property damage. Investigators from the Bomb and Arson Team are now on the case, piecing together surveillance, witness accounts, and the accelerant pattern. That coordinated response likely kept the incident from becoming a tragedy.

As of Thursday night, police said there had been no arrests, but the investigation is active and ongoing. Authorities emphasized that this is a criminal matter and not a political rally, and they are treating it accordingly. If someone believed they could damage property or endanger lives in the name of protest, they will face the legal consequences. Public safety and order cannot be sacrificed for political theater.

These Leftists do not care about putting the lives of ICE agents at risk, and we’ve known that for a while, but now it’s clear that they don’t care about harming migrants in pursuit of their anti-ICE agenda. Political obsession with a target can blind people to real-world consequences, and that mindset can make everyone less safe. The fire could have spread and killed many people, and those who cheer such actions from the sidelines share responsibility for the danger. Accountability matters when actions cross into violence and endangerment.

No one ever accused them of being smart when mobs bypass caution for headlines and outrage. Reckless acts like arson are crimes, not policy statements, and should be treated as such by law enforcement. The focus now must be on finding the suspect and holding the perpetrator accountable under the law. Community leaders should condemn violence regardless of political sympathy.

Kansas City police need to follow through and show they will not tolerate politically motivated arson or threats to public safety. Investigators are working with local partners, combing video, and collecting physical evidence to identify the suspect. A strong, visible response reassures residents and underscores that violent tactics have real consequences. Law and order must be restored when politics crosses into criminal behavior.

Yes, it is concerning that rumor and rhetoric can escalate into criminal acts and put people at risk. It makes absolutely no sense to attack a building when the facts about a sale are disputed and negotiations were reportedly not moving forward. There is not a substitute for calm, factual discussion over baseless spectacle, even in heated debates about immigration and enforcement.

Editor’s Note: Democrats are fanning the flames and raising the rhetoric by comparing ICE to the Gestapo, fascists, and secret police.
