Trump Declares America Back At 250th Anniversary Kickoff

President Trump led the America250 kickoff at the Great American State Fair, declaring a confident message about the nation’s revival while military bands, cabinet officials, and flyovers underscored the patriotic tone.

President Donald Trump used the kickoff to frame the U.S. as reborn ahead of its 250th year, leaning into a triumphant message about national standing. “Tonight as we stand on the edge of our 250th year of independence, I am thrilled to declare that America is back.

He boasted about America’s return to respect on the world stage and contrasted it with a recent past he described as humiliating. “Now we’re the hottest country anywhere in the world who are respected by everybody. Nobody’s laughing at us anymore,” he said, adding, “Two years ago, they were laughing. Now we’re the most respected anywhere. Think of it, anywhere in the world, where were we two years ago? We were respected. We were a joke. We’re not a joke anymore,” the president continued.

Trump framed the present moment as an unprecedented era for the country and urged higher expectations. “We’re in the golden age. There’s never been an age like this,” he later added, encouraging people to “raise our expectations of what America can be.” “The best is yet to come,” he said. “This exceptional nation was forged, worn, by some of the bravest, toughest, most extraordinary people ever to stride the Earth,” he said.

The kickoff mixed music and government presence, featuring performances from Lee Greenwood, Alexis Wilkins, Christopher Macchio, and military ensembles such as the “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band. Several cabinet members addressed the audience, including Interior Secretary Doug Burgum and USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins, creating a blend of policy and pageantry.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy injected a more combative tone in his remarks, calling out critics and praising the musicians who showed up. “To start this off, I think we have to give a big round of applause for our military band and singers — way better than those libtards that canceled on us!” Duffy said.

The production included a dramatic aviation component, with multiple flyovers designed to amplify the spectacle and national pride. There were also numerous flyover that send awe-inspiring shockwaves through Washington, D.C., including a B-2 bomber.

Originally planned as a larger concert with a longer roster of artists, the event saw several performers withdraw amid political backlash, narrowing the lineup. Despite defections, the program leaned into veteran performers and military music to sustain a celebratory, Americana feel.

Trump closed his remarks with a string of promises aimed at restoring America’s greatness and security, delivering the words in his signature cadence. “We will make America powerful again. We will make America wealthy again. We will make America strong again. We will make America proud again. We will make America safe again, and we will make America great again,” Trump said at the close of his remarks, shortly before the United States Marine Band played an instrumental version of Village People’s “YMCA” as he exited. Supporters responded with loud applause and hopeful slogans that matched the upbeat staging of the evening.
