Jennifer Welch Declares She Wants To Burn American Flags

Quick take: a liberal celebrity said she wanted to burn American flags over Trump supporters, and the reaction lays bare a lot of predictable hypocrisy and outrage on the left.

Again, it’s hard to watch the same crowd that preached unity in 2020 turn into a rage machine the moment politics don’t go their way. Back then they told everyone ‘you must love your country even when your candidate loses,’ and now those same voices act as if patriotism is conditional. The flip from civility to scorched-earth anger is striking and revealing.

What makes this worse is the left’s tolerance for extremes when it suits them, whether that’s backing fringe candidates or shrugging at ugly symbolism. You see endorsements of people with disturbing imagery and statements, and a shocking willingness to normalize fringe views if they advance the agenda. It isn’t just disagreement anymore; it’s a comfort with chaos masked as righteous fury.

Then there’s Jennifer Welch, a Bravo personality and podcaster who openly said she feels like burning American flags because of Trump supporters. That line isn’t subtle protest, it’s an emotional melt-down on display, and it exposes a contempt for the symbols that unite most Americans. When public figures celebrate destruction of the flag, they reveal how performative and tribal their anger has become.

Plenty of celebrities and media figures treat these tantrums as brave truth-telling rather than the counterproductive posturing they are. They sip their wine, shout into microphones, and frame dissent as moral purity, while ignoring that most Americans want normalcy and respect for national symbols. Because when you’re done with all of that, we’re still going to be here.

There isn’t much else to add to that level of obsession — it reads less like reasoned political critique and more like a vendetta. When rhetoric turns to calls for desecration, the argument collapses into spectacle and loses any seriousness it might have claimed. That’s why this is not persuasive to anyone outside their echo chamber.

Patriotism isn’t a punchline and the flag isn’t a prop to be burned for clout. Most Americans treat national symbols with respect even when they disagree about policy, and that steadiness is why civic life holds together. Celebrating the destruction of those symbols tells you more about the speaker’s temper than about any legitimate grievance.

There’s also a media double standard in play: similar behavior from conservative figures is covered as dangerous extremism, while left-of-center outbursts are framed as therapeutic or cathartic. That mismatch in coverage furthers the divide and deepens the resentment many feel toward elite institutions. When newsrooms pick favorites, public trust erodes on both sides.

Don’t mistake this for an inability to take criticism — real debate is healthy and necessary. The problem is the collapse into performative hatred and the elevation of spectacle over substance, which is corrosive no matter who does it. Conservatives want real discussions, not viral tantrums dressed up as moral leadership.

Happy Independence Day, patriots. Don’t be like Jenny.

Also, Trump derangement syndrome should be classified as a real medical condition at this point, because the intensity of the reaction often outstrips any rational political disagreement. When political emotion tips into obsession, it stops being about policy and becomes about identity, and that’s when democracy gets messy. Keep your head, stay proud of the country, and let the other side have their meltdown while you build the future.
