Amazon's October Prime Day Set for Oct. 6-7, With Deals on Tech and Home Goods

Amazon will hold its fall Prime Day sale on Oct. 6 and 7, offering discounts across categories including technology, tools, home essentials and everyday basics.

The October event is a smaller version of Amazon’s larger annual Prime Day sale. Most of the discounts will be limited to Prime members, though a handful of deals will also be open to shoppers who don’t have a membership.

An Amazon Prime membership costs $139 a year. Members get access to discounts, limited-time price cuts and so-called Lightning Deals on popular products, such as Apple AirPods Pro 3 and DeWalt’s drill and driver set.

Tips for shopping the sale

Shoppers looking to get the most out of the event may want to consider a few steps ahead of time:

  • Sign up for Prime membership in advance. New members can start with a 30-day free trial, which would make them eligible for member-only deals once they go live.
  • Watch for Lightning Deals, which offer steeper discounts for a limited time and can sell out quickly. These are marked with a red “Lightning Deal” label.
  • Set up deal alerts through Amazon and add items to a watchlist to track price drops.

What was popular last year

Several products that were popular during last year’s October Prime Day event are already discounted again ahead of this year’s sale, including:

  • Apple AirPods Pro 3, originally $249, which feature Active Noise Cancellation and up to eight hours of battery life.
  • A DeWalt jigsaw, originally $239, now discounted to nearly half off, with a variable-speed trigger and built-in light.
  • A DeWalt drill and driver set, originally $239, designed for DIY or professional projects with a built-in light for dark spaces.
  • A KitchenAid stand mixer, originally $499.99 and currently $100 off, with a 5-quart bowl and 10 whipping speeds.
  • The Nespresso Vertuo espresso machine, originally $239.95, which brews six cup sizes and includes a milk frother.
  • Samsonite’s Freeform luggage set, originally $479.99, including a large suitcase and carry-on with spinner wheels.

Prime members can have items delivered quickly, and those without a membership can sign up or start a 30-day free trial ahead of the sale dates.
