An Idaho-based firearms accessory maker, JK Armament, has built a shotgun suppressor designed to be reconfigured for different shooting situations without tools, according to a review published by Breitbart News.
The device, called the SGX 12GA, is a sound- and recoil-reducing suppressor built for 12-gauge shotguns. It’s marketed to a wide range of shooters, from bird hunters and clay shooters to those using shotguns for home defense or tactical purposes.
In testing described by the reviewer, shooting through the SGX 12GA reduced both noise and recoil. The reviewer noted the recoil reduction was significant enough to improve control, which in turn helped accuracy.
Built to Change Size on the Fly
What sets the SGX 12GA apart, according to the review, is its adjustability. Shooters can add or remove baffles to shorten or lengthen the suppressor depending on the task, with no special tools required. Once the desired length is set, the front end cap screws in and the suppressor is ready to use.
For close-quarters or tactical use, the suppressor can be shortened to keep the shotgun compact. For open-field bird hunting, where a compact size matters less, it can be lengthened to maximize its noise- and recoil-reducing effects.
At its shortest, the SGX 12GA measures 3.375 inches and weighs 4.3 ounces. Fully assembled with all baffles attached, it stretches to 11.75 inches and weighs 22.4 ounces. It is compatible with steel and lead shot, as well as buckshot and slugs.
