Ms. Rachel Pledges to Match Macklemore's Donation to Palestinian Aid Groups

Rachel Griffin Accurso, the children’s YouTube and Netflix personality known as Ms. Rachel, announced on Instagram that she will match a donation rapper Macklemore made to Palestinian aid organizations, and called on other wealthy celebrities to do the same.

The announcement follows a post from Macklemore, whose real name is Benjamin Hammond Haggerty, in which he said he would donate his earnings from the Loop Tour with Ed Sheeran to six organizations: the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF), HEAL Palestine, Gaza Soup Kitchen, Medical Aid for Palestinians, UNRWA USA National Committee and American Near East Refugee Aid (ANERA). New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft also pledged money as part of the effort.

Macklemore had been removed from Sheeran’s tour after repeatedly calling for a “Free Palestine” and performing his song “Hind’s Hall” during an opening set at MetLife Stadium earlier this month.

In her post, Accurso wrote she would direct her matching donation to the PCRF.

“I will match Macklemore’s donation and I invite every wealthy White celebrity to match it and speak out against the genocide in Gaza,” Accurso wrote. “Over 20,000 precious Palestinian children have been killed and children continue to be killed every day. We have a moral obligation to use our privilege and platforms to protect children and human rights.”

The Iran-aligned outlet Al Mayadeen featured coverage of Macklemore’s dispute with Sheeran prominently on its front page this week, including multiple articles and videos on the story.
