Singer Taylor Hanson is out of the running on “Dancing With the Stars.” He and his professional partner, Britt Stewart, were eliminated at the end of Tuesday night’s episode after their Foxtrot to “What a Fool Believes” earned an 18 out of 30 from the judges.
The episode, part of Season 35, was themed “Yacht Rock Night,” with contestants dancing to what ABC described as “smooth grooves, soft-rock classics and iconic hits that defined the yacht rock era.”
Before the elimination was announced, co-hosts Julianne Hough and Alfonso Ribeiro named two other couples in the bottom: “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” personality Guillermo Rodriguez, paired with Witney Carson, and Savannah Bananas star Jackson Olson, paired with Emma Slater.
Hall & Oates and Toto dominate the night
Three couples danced to Hall & Oates songs. “Glee” alum Harry Shum Jr. and partner Jenna Johnson posted the night’s top Hall & Oates score, a 24/30, for their Jive to “You Make My Dreams (Come True).” “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” alum Tatyana Ali and partner Jan Ravnik earned a 21/30 for their Quickstep to “Maneater.” “Save the Last Dance” actress Julia Stiles, dancing with partner Ezra Sosa, scored a 19/30 for their Salsa to “I Can’t Go for That (No Can Do)”; Stiles was visibly emotional during the show over both low scores and a rib injury.
Toto’s catalog also got double duty. Olympic gold medalist Amber Glenn and partner Pasha Pashkov scored a 24/30 for their Foxtrot to “Hold the Line,” while “Step Up” actress Jenna Dewan and partner Val Chmerkovskiy earned a 21/30 for their Samba to “Africa.”

Hanson’s exit follows earlier departures this season by “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” star Conner Leavitt, “Love Thy Nader” star Sarah Jane Nader and celebrity chef Giada De Laurentiis, all of whom were voted off after failing to win over the judges and viewers.
New episodes of “Dancing With the Stars” air Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC and Disney+, with the episodes streaming on Hulu the following day.
