Rams Lineman Alaric Jackson to Appeal Two-Game Suspension for Punching Bills Player

Los Angeles Rams left tackle Alaric Jackson plans to appeal the two-game suspension the NFL handed him for punching Buffalo Bills linebacker Bradley Chubb after Monday night’s 37-34 overtime loss at SoFi Stadium, head coach Sean McVay confirmed Tuesday.

“Yes, that’s my understanding,” McVay said when asked whether Jackson intended to appeal.

The altercation happened near midfield just after Buffalo’s game-winning field goal. Jackson and Chubb exchanged words before Jackson threw a right-handed punch that was caught on camera.

For McVay, the punishment itself isn’t the main issue. It’s the pattern of poor decisions from a player the Rams can’t afford to lose.

“He has to consistently do a better job,” McVay said. “It certainly doesn’t help us when we’re missing a player of his caliber.”

This isn’t Jackson’s first run-in with league discipline. He served a two-game suspension in 2024 for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy.

McVay said he wasn’t ready to pass full judgment on Jackson without knowing what led to the confrontation, noting he hadn’t heard what Chubb said before the punch was thrown.

“I’m not condoning by any stretch of the imagination, but I want to gather all the information before I make comments,” McVay said.

Regardless of what was said, the fallout lands squarely on a Rams team already struggling at 2-3, which now faces two games without its starting left tackle.
