Trump Brings Floyd Mayweather to Arizona Rally, Urges Voters to Back Biggs Over Hobbs

President Donald Trump campaigned in Arizona on Wednesday ahead of next month’s elections, bringing undefeated boxer Floyd “Money” Mayweather on stage during a rally that has since drawn wide attention on social media.

Trump introduced Mayweather, who finished his career 50-0, calling him “the greatest defensive fighter.” Mayweather praised the president and the country in his remarks.

“If I died and came back a million times, I will always choose America. It was great to represent this country in the 1996 Olympic Games, to go out there and represent the red, white, and blue,” Mayweather said.

“We couldn’t have chose a better president twice than Donald Trump. So it’s all about keeping this country strong, and it’s all about us sticking together and believing in one another. America is the best country in the world,” he added.

Mayweather is the latest athlete to join Trump on the campaign trail during his midterm travels. Roger Clemens appeared with the president in San Antonio last week, followed two days later by boxer Mike Tyson in Syracuse. On Monday, football coach John Gruden and boxer-turned-YouTuber Jake Paul joined Trump in Youngstown, Ohio.

Trump Targets Hobbs on Crime and Border

The Arizona stop was part of Trump’s broader get-out-the-vote push for Republican candidates nationwide. He urged voters to support Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) in the gubernatorial race over Gov. Katie Hobbs (D-AZ).

“So 20 days from now, the people of Arizona are going to defeat your failed radical left, horrible governor Katie Hobbs. She’s horrible. First of all, she’s a dumb person,” Trump said.

He described Biggs, by contrast, as a “true American patriot” and a “common sense person.”

Trump accused Hobbs, who has served as governor since 2023, of being lenient on crime and illegal immigration, and claimed she “does the bidding of the cartels.”

“They got plenty of cash because what she does, it doesn’t make sense. Something has to be between her and the cartels because she’s causing tremendous death in your state,” he said.

He pointed to 18 crime-related bills Hobbs has vetoed during her time in office, including measures he said would have targeted drug cartels and increased prison sentences for fentanyl dealers.

“She vetoed 18 bills cracking down on crime, including legislation to crush the drug cartels. She vetoed legislation that would have been bad and probably broken the cartels, and increased prison sentences for fentanyl dealers. She didn’t do it. She wouldn’t sign it,” Trump said.

He added that “many of your children are dying” from fentanyl, along with older residents, while crediting military action against cartels for a drop in fentanyl entering the country.

Broader Attacks on Democrats

Trump also criticized former President Joe Biden and Democrats more broadly, blaming them for what he called an affordability crisis and warning of consequences if they regain power.

“If the Democrats get back into power, they will immediately reopen your borders, sell out Arizona to the cartels, raise your prices, and open the prisons and jails of the planet so that they can come in totally unchecked, totally unvetted into Arizona and every other place like it was,” he said.

“On November 3rd, this state needs to stand up and declare that you are never going back to the disasters and devastation of the Democrat rule,” he added.
