Sabina Jaksova, the sideline reporter for FK Viagem Ústí nad Labem, says she was “pleasantly surprised” after a post-match interview with head coach David Oulehla spread far beyond the Czech Republic following the team’s 3-2 loss to SFC Opava earlier this month.
A clip of the interview, in which Jaksova appeared in a low-cut top while Oulehla avoided looking toward her, drew millions of views and widespread commentary online.
Speaking with SunSport, Jaksova defended the coach’s conduct during the exchange and said his wife, Lucie, was glad the video had taken off.
“His wife watches our interviews closely, and I believe she was pleased this interview went viral,” Jaksova said. “David has very strong willpower, and we’re proud of him at the club. I didn’t notice him looking away, because I was concentrating on what he was saying.”
Jaksova said she hadn’t expected the clip to travel internationally, noting that attention from fans at home is nothing new for her.
“I’m used to attention, because FK Viagem Ústí nad Labem are one of the most followed clubs in the Czech Republic. People recognize me in my own country, and I am a popular presenter,” she said. “But I was pleasantly surprised that it spread like this beyond our borders.”
The video also drew criticism online over Jaksova’s choice of outfit during interviews, a point she pushed back on directly.
“I don’t think I dress provocatively,” she said. “Here in the Czech Republic, it’s normal for a woman to put on nice clothes and heels when she goes out and wants to look good. Entertainment is at the core of our marketing, and everything else is built around it. At Viagem, we believe football is like show business. I understand it would make some people happy if I was covered up, but on the other hand, I’d disappoint a lot of people too.”
Jaksova also spoke about her personal life, crediting her partner, boxing trainer Petr Petružálek, with whom she shares two children, for his support.
“My partner Petr and my family are a huge support to me. We have a lovely relationship full of love,” she said.
Jaksova has previously described how she came to the presenter role with the club, saying management approached her directly with the offer.
“The club’s management contacted me directly and made me the offer. I admit that I was happy and surprised at the same time,” she said of her appointment. “I thought about it for a while, but finally said: ‘Why not? I’ll try.’ However, I had no experience, so I learned everything along the way.”
