On Monday, GOP Congressman Cory Mills announced that he plans to lead a separate and independent investigation into the attempted assassination of President Trump.
This decision comes after Speaker Johnson organized a task force to look into the Butler shooting, which Mills deemed unsatisfactory.
Mills, a Florida lawmaker and former sniper, voiced his disappointment with the Trump Assassination Attempt Task Force assembled by Johnson.
He noted the absence of two veteran snipers from the task force, Eli Crane and himself.
“It’s very unfortunate but not surprising for anyone familiar with how DC works. I’m not a politician, leadership, or a ‘yes man,’” Mills said in a statement on X on Monday.
“I wish the members of Speaker Johnson’s Task Force well, and think it’s time for a parallel independent investigation with subject matter experts (SME) and the whistleblowers who’ve already come forward that myself and Rep. Eli Crane and Benny Johnson have spoken with,” Mills said. “I will be speaking with other members, and although I won’t have subpoena powers, I will personally fund whatever is required for additional staff to further investigation and expose the truth.”

Eli Crane and Cory Mills traveled to the location where the attempted assassination against Trump took place in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Cory Mills suspects that the assassination attempt on Trump on July 13 might have been orchestrated.
This could be the reason Speaker Johnson did not include Mills in the task force.
He alleges that the Secret Service was involved in the plot.
Few people are convinced that 20-year-old Thomas Crooks acted without assistance from someone on the inside.
