Trump Threatens RINO Indiana Lawmakers To Protect GOP Majority

President Trump publicly criticized Indiana Republican lawmakers for refusing to pursue redistricting, arguing the move could cost Republicans additional House seats and urging accountability for those who stand in the way.

President Donald Trump took aim at Indiana state senators after they signaled they wouldn’t move forward with redistricting the state, saying the decision could prevent Republicans from picking up congressional seats. He used social media to press the point, framing redistricting as a strategic necessity in the broader fight over control of the U.S. House.

The stakes matter because reapportionment and redistricting can shift how many seats a state sends to Congress, and Trump argued Indiana could potentially add two U.S. House seats favorable to Republicans. He contrasted that with recent moves in California, where Proposition 50 passed and, in his view, would boost Democratic House representation by several seats.

Trump also pointed to ongoing legal action in other states where the Department of Justice has challenged maps, arguing Republicans need to be prepared politically if courts do not throw out those plans. He framed the dispute as part of a larger contest over how maps are drawn and who benefits from them, urging Republicans to act proactively rather than reactively.

“Very disappointed in Indiana State Senate Republicans, led by RINO Senators Rod Bray and Greg Goode, for not wanting to redistrict their State, allowing the United States Congress to perhaps gain two more Republican seats. The Democrats have done redistricting for years, often illegally, and all other appropriate Republican States have done it.”

Within his broader critique, Trump singled out specific Indiana figures and expressed frustration with what he called weak Republican leadership on the issue. He accused some leaders of putting political correctness and complacency ahead of party advantage, saying that kind of thinking erodes Republican efforts nationwide.

“Because of these two politically correct type “gentlemen,” and a few others, they could be depriving Republicans of a Majority in the House, A VERY BIG DEAL! California is trying to pick up five seats, and no one is complaining about that. It’s weak “Republicans” that cause our Country such problems — It’s why we have crazy Policies and Ideas that are so bad for America. Also, a friend of mine, Governor Mike Braun, perhaps, is not working the way he should to get the necessary Votes. Considering that Mike wouldn’t be Governor without me (Not even close!), is disappointing!”

“Any Republican that votes against this important redistricting, potentially having an impact on America itself, should be PRIMARIED. Indiana is a State with strong, smart, and patriotic people. They want us to see our Country WIN, and want to, “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” Senators Bray, Goode, and the others to be released to the public later this afternoon, should DO THEIR JOB, AND DO IT NOW! If not, let’s get them out of office, ASAP.”

Trump’s language left little doubt that he expects party discipline and is willing to make consequences clear for those who buck the leadership line. His call to primary dissenting Republicans is a familiar strategy intended to enforce unity and discourage defections on high-stakes decisions.

Observers note that redistricting fights are commonly partisan and often end up in court, especially when questions about race or political intent arise in mapmaking. The Justice Department’s involvement in other states underscores how redistricting can become a federal matter, not just a state one, and why national leaders feel compelled to weigh in.

For Indiana Republicans, the choice is political as much as procedural: move ahead with a redistricting plan that could reshape the state’s congressional delegation, or hold back and risk leaving potential gains on the table. Trump framed the argument as plain accountability — voters and activists should know who supported the effort and who did not.
