Dallas is set to host the first-ever Republican Party midterm convention, a two-day gathering that organizers say will showcase President Donald Trump’s record and rally support ahead of November’s elections.
The event, announced by Trump on Truth Social, will bring Republican officials and candidates from across the country to Texas. Party organizers describe it as a chance to highlight what they call the results of Trump’s agenda over the past two years and to make the case to voters for expanding Republican majorities in Congress and in governors’ offices nationwide.
According to convention organizers, sessions will focus on policies including proposals for no tax on tips, no tax on overtime, and no tax on Social Security, along with school choice and small-business initiatives. Organizers also plan to promote the party’s Working Families Tax Cuts, expanded relief for parents, and new Trump Accounts aimed at giving younger Americans a financial head start.
Health care and drug pricing are also expected to be a focus. Organizers point to what they describe as the largest drop in prescription drug prices in 60 years, tied to the TrumpRx initiative, and a $50 billion Rural Health Transformation Program that they call the largest investment in rural health care in the country’s history.
The convention program is also set to include discussion of border security policy, with organizers citing Department of Homeland Security figures showing a 94% drop in illegal border crossings under the Trump administration. Angel Parents — family members of people killed by crimes committed by illegal immigrants — are expected to speak at the event.
Other planned elements include recognition of more than 100 American hostages organizers say were returned home during Trump’s term without ransom payments, a 25th-anniversary observance of the September 11 attacks with children and families of first responders, and a tribute to conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Republican candidates running for House, Senate and governor’s races are scheduled to speak during the two-day event. The convention will conclude with remarks from President Trump, who is expected to discuss the administration’s record and the stakes of the upcoming midterm elections.
