Aaron Rodgers says the woman he married in a quiet 2025 elopement first crossed his path in Austin nearly a decade ago, a connection the NFL quarterback says he regrets not acting on sooner.
Rodgers, 42, confirmed in June 2025 that he had married a woman he identified only as Brittani. Speaking later on the podcast “Not Just Football with Cam Heyward,” he said he met her in 2017 while she was living in Austin after attending the University of Texas, just as she was preparing to move back to Europe.
“In 2017, I met my wife, and at the time, she was leaving the States and going back to Europe,” Rodgers told Heyward. “And my biggest regret is not begging her to stay or proposing right there, because that sent me right there into a tailspin of what can I be accused of as a partner in a relationship.”
According to Rodgers, the two lost touch after things didn’t work out, and Brittani returned to Europe. Years later, their paths crossed again under different circumstances. “She was engaged, then I got engaged, and luckily, for me, we came back together,” he said.
The couple eloped in 2025, and Rodgers has kept his wife almost entirely out of public view, a sharp contrast to the string of high-profile relationships that defined his dating life for more than a decade.
A Long Road to the Altar
Before settling down, Rodgers was linked to a series of well-known women. He dated actress Jessica Szohr on and off starting in 2011, and later had a widely publicized relationship with Olivia Munn beginning in 2014 that included engagement rumors before ending a few months later. Munn addressed the fallout from that breakup, including being blamed by some fans for Rodgers’ estrangement from his family, during a 2025 appearance on the “Armchair Expert” podcast.
Rodgers then dated former IndyCar and NASCAR driver Danica Patrick, confirming the relationship in January 2018. The two split in July 2020. Patrick later said on “The Sage Steele Show” in 2025 that she found the relationship “emotionally abusive,” while Rodgers disputed her account on Heyward’s podcast, saying he tried to be “a good partner” during a difficult period for her after her retirement.
His most publicized romance came with actress Shailene Woodley. Rodgers announced their engagement in February 2021 while accepting his third NFL MVP award, and Woodley confirmed she was his fiancée. The relationship ended in 2022 after attempts at reconciliation. On Heyward’s podcast, Rodgers gave his own account of the split, saying Woodley told him she needed to be with someone else before their planned wedding and that she ended things by March 2021 after he proposed in December. Woodley has not responded to his claims.
Rodgers has said he hopes to become a father after his football career ends.
