Farrah Abraham is recovering from major jaw surgery, a procedure that has left her unable to speak, unable to eat solid food for weeks, and dealing with significant facial swelling.
The 35-year-old “Teen Mom” alum recently underwent double-disc jaw surgery after dealing with ongoing jaw problems. Following the procedure, her jaw was wired shut, and her manager says the swelling has changed her appearance dramatically.
Her manager, Chrissy Johnston, told the Daily Mail that Abraham will be unable to speak for two months and must take all her meals as liquids through a straw during that time.
“Farrah cannot speak because her jaw is wired shut, and her face is extremely swollen. She is in a severe amount of pain and is really struggling, both physically and mentally,” Johnston said.
Johnston added that Abraham has also lost hearing in her right ear following the surgery. “I hope and pray that her pain eases soon and that her hearing returns to normal over time,” she said.
Abraham made an appearance on her daughter Sophia’s TikTok livestream shortly after the operation. Unable to speak, she held up a sign reading, “I had surgery + can’t talk. Thanks for all the gifts.”
She later gave an update on her recovery through Instagram Stories, writing, “I feel like Frankenstein right now,” and adding, “Praying my face comes back in three months.”
Abraham has struggled with jaw issues throughout the year, and according to Johnston, she believes the underlying damage is connected to trauma from a sexual assault case she has pursued. Abraham has accused former Windsor, Calif., Mayor Dominic Foppoli of drugging and sexually assaulting her in Palm Beach, Fla., in March 2021; Foppoli has denied the allegations.
“She believes the trauma and stress from the assault affected her nervous system and contributed to the damage she has experienced,” Johnston said. “After everything she has already endured, to now be left in excruciating pain, unable to speak or open her mouth to eat normally for months, is an enormous amount for anyone to endure. She is going through an incredibly difficult time right now.”
Abraham has had numerous cosmetic procedures over the years, including three breast augmentations, a rhinoplasty, a chin implant, butt injections, lip and facial fillers, and a vaginal rejuvenation procedure.
