Mabel Lowe, 17, the daughter of actor Chad Lowe, has shared a tribute to her younger sister Fiona, who died earlier this year at age 13.
According to the County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s office, Fiona died at a Los Angeles hospital on Sept. 29. Her cause of death was ruled a suicide.
Mabel posted a carousel of photos with her sister on social media over the weekend, writing: “I love you so much fiona. I wish your short time here was easier and i hope your mind is at ease now. I will honor you forever and keep your memory alive. I love you, i hope you knew just how much.”
The post drew responses from several family friends in the entertainment industry. Jeremy Renner wrote, “Bless you dear Mabel. My deepest condolences to you and the family.” Jessica Capshaw commented, “What a beautiful tribute to your sister. I have had you and your family in my thoughts and prayers and I’m sending you all so much love.” Kimberly Williams Paisley wrote, “Mabel, we’ve been thinking of your family all week and sending you prayers and so much love,” and Selma Blair added, “I wish for so much for you in her memory.”
Fiona was the middle of three daughters born to Lowe and his wife, Kim Painter, who have been together for nearly two decades and have largely kept their family life out of the public eye.
“We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona,” the family said in a statement provided to Page Six. “She was a loving young girl who was smart, creative and loved to dance. She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives.”
The statement continued: “Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time.” The family also encouraged anyone struggling with mental health issues to contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988.
Lowe, the younger brother of actor Rob Lowe, is an Emmy-winning actor and director known for his work on “Life Goes On,” “Pretty Little Liars” and “9-1-1: Lone Star.” Painter is a producer and casting professional whose credits include “Enemy of the State,” “Ted Bundy” and “Instant Dads.”
