Celebrity Makeup Artist Predicts Bolder Looks for Fall 2026

Fall beauty trends are moving away from the understated “clean girl” look toward something more dramatic, according to Hannah Murray, Bobbi Brown’s first-ever global artistic director and a makeup artist who has worked with Alex Consani and Hailey Bieber.

“‘Clean girl’ makeup always work, as it feels minimal and fresh — but I’m definitely excited about seeing more color and stronger looks,” Murray said. “I’m loving the more dramatic smoky eyes with deeper lipsticks; it feels sexy and powerful.”

Flushed, Rosy Cheeks

Murray predicts “soft, feminine, flushed cheeks you’d get from being in the mountains” will be a leading trend this season. She suggests using a cream blush, such as Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge, on the apples of the cheeks and a touch on the bridge of the nose. “I like to apply something that has a red undertone for the most authentic flush,” she said.

Smoked-Out Eyes and Bold Lips

Pointing to recent runway shows from Saint Laurent, Gucci and Jean Paul Gaultier, Murray said dark, smoked-out neutral eyes paired with burgundy or red lips will bring a “dark sophistication” to fall looks.

To achieve the effect, she recommends starting with a creamy kohl liner, blending it out, and then softening with a neutral, cool-toned eyeshadow or cream shadow depending on the desired intensity. She favors the Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Eyeliner Stick in shades Panther, Aubergine or Fog.

Murray cautioned against overdoing the rest of the face when wearing a dramatic eye or lip. “Keep the focus on one or two features and keep the third element fresher … this will keep a certain effortlessness to your face,” she said, adding that trying to do too much at once is the most common mistake she sees.

Bold, Solid Color on the Eyes

Murray also spotted a trend of “intense bold colors applied solidly on eye with the rest of the face fairly blank” at Sportmax and Moschino. For those who want to try it without runway styling, she suggests applying concealer or a skin-toned cream eyeshadow as a base before adding the bright color. “This will keep the color bright and fresh and will help it to stay,” she said.

The Skin-Care Staple She Swears By

No matter the look, Murray said good skin prep matters most. Her go-to is Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base+ Moisturizer & Primer, which she calls her “all-time favorite product” for keeping makeup in place all day.

To finish, she often dabs a moisturizer like Weleda Skin Food along the top of the cheekbones for extra glow. “It brings back skin quality immediately and refreshes the face,” she said. “It’s a quick hack that works every time, especially in photographs.”
